Question : Bank Loans to Flood Hit Areas

(a) whether the banks have launched any schemes for easy/soft loans to people who have lost their livelihood in floods etc. and if so, the details thereof, State-wise including Uttarakhand;

(b) whether the Reserve Bank of India has any proposal to waive off interest part of the loans to the people affected in these areas and if so, the details thereof; and

(c) the steps taken/being taken by the Government/RBI to assist the people of flood affected areas?

(a) to (c) : Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has issued guidelines for relief measures by banks in areas affected by natural calamities vide circular no. FIDD No. FSD.BC.12/05.10.001/2015-16 dated August 21, 2015 and FIDD No. FSD.BC.01/05.10.001/2015-16 dated July 01, 2015. The relief measures include rescheduled / restructuring of existing loans, moratorium period for payment of loans, sanctioning of fresh loans on concessional rates as per directives of the respective SLBCs issued from time to time. Banks have been providing relief measures in line with the RBI guidelines in all states including Uttarakhand.
