Question : Scholarship for Students

(a) whether the Government has enhanced scholarship for wards of police personnel martyred in terror or Maoist attacks; and

(b) if so, the number of persons who have been benefitted from this scheme so far, State/UT-wise including Siddharth Nagar in Uttar Pradesh?

(a) Under the Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme, dependent wards and widows of Central Armed Police Forces and Assam Rifles (CAPFs and AR) personnel serving/killed/disabled in Government services are given Scholarships of Rs. 2250/- and Rs. 2000/- per month for girls and boys respectively.
The above scheme has now been extended to the wards of State Police Personnel who are killed during Terror / Naxal attacks from the Academic Year 2019-2020 onwards. The amount of Scholarship under this scheme has also been increased to Rs. 3000/- and Rs. 2500/- per month for girls and boys respectively from the Academic Year 2019-2020.
(b) As per available records, details of wards of CAPFs and AR, State/UT-wise who have been benefitted under this scheme are enclosed at Annexure-A.
