Question : MODERNISATION OF NTC MILLS



(a) the details of the mills of the National Textiles Corporation which have been proposed for modernisation, State/Union Territory-wise;

(b) the time by which the said proposal is likely to be finalised;

(c) the funds allocated for the modernisation of NTC mills during the last three years, mill-wise;

(d) whether some quantity of cloth produced from these mills are also being exported; and

(e) if so, the quantity of cloth produced, mill-wise?

(a) to (e): A statement is laid on the Table of the House.

(a) & (b): The State/Union Territory-wise list of National Textile Corporation (NTC) mills identified for modernisation by NTC itself is at Annexure-I. 18 mills which have been modernised are generating cash profits.

(c): The revival scheme of NTC is self-financing, and funds are generated from sale of surplus land and assets of the company. Details of fund utilisation for the modernisation of NTC mills during the last three years are at Annexure-II.

(d) & (e): NTC is primarily a yarn producing company. At present, cloth production is taking place in two mills only. The mill wise detail of cloth production is as under:-

NTC has exported cloth worth Rs. 563.04 lakhs during the year 2009-10 and Rs. 149.26 lakh during April-June, 2010.
