Question : Air and Road Connectivity in North East

(a) whether increased air and road connectivity in recent years has increased tourism in the North East Region;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) the details of roads and highways constructed in the region in the past four years; and
(d) the details of air connectivity increased in the region during the above period?

(a) and (b): As per available information, foreign and domestic tourist arrivals in North Eastern States has increased from 77.71 lakh in the year 2016 to 95.47 lakh in the year 2017 (22.85% increase).

(c) : As per information available, the roads and highways constructed in the North Eastern Region in the past four years include 15,187 km of road under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), 1652.86 km of road under Ministry of Road, Transport & Highways roads and 669.79 km of road under schemes of North Eastern Council.
