Question : ALLOTMENT OF COAL BLOCKS TO RAJASTHAN



(a) whether the Government has received any proposal from the Rajasthan Vidhyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd. for allotment of coal blocks for meeting the power requirement of the State;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the action taken thereon;

(c) the details of the coal blocks being considered for allotment to Rajasthan for the purpose:

(d) whether these blocks will be able to meet the requirement of the State; and

(e) if not, other measures taken by the Union Government in this regard?

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF COAL (DR DASARINARAYANA RAO)

(a) to (e) : The Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Udpadan Nigam Limited (RRVUNL) had applied for allocation of Baitarni West, Chendipada and Mandakini B coal blocks through the Government company dispensation route in response to letter dated 7 November, 2006 of Ministry of Coal. However, subsequently RRVUNL informed vide their letter No. RVUN/CMD/Fuel/D.40 dated 29.01.2007 that their applications may be treated as withdrawn. However, Government of Rajasthan has requested for allocation of Parsa East and Kente Basant coal blocks in favour of RRVUNL. These blocks have been earmarked for allocation to power projects to be awarded based on tariff based competitive bidding. Rajasthan Government has been informed accordingly.
