Question : Pioneer Scheme

(a) whether the Maker Village is planning to associate with All India Council for
Technical Education (AICTE) by launching pioneering schemes to promote
entrepreneurship and innovation;
(b) whether the AICTE maintains a list of unapproved institutes based on the
information received from various sources;
(c) if so, the details thereof;
(d) whether the list includes (264) technical and (116) architecture institutes; and
(e) if so, the steps being taken by the Government to control such construction of
fake institutions?

(a): Yes, Sir. The “Maker Village” of Kerala had approached the All India Council for
Technical Education (AICTE) for collaboration.
(b) to (d): The AICTE maintains a state-wise list of (264) unapproved technical institutes
on its website. The same may be seen at AICTE website https://facilities.aicteindia.
org/dashboard/pages/angulardashboard.php#!/unapproved . The list does not
contain architectural institutes.
(e): To curb the menace of unapproved institutions, AICTE issues Public Notices and
individual letters to such institutes to seek AICTE approval for conducting technical
education programmes or to close down. The concerned State Governments are also
advised to take appropriate action against such institutes. In case, any unapproved
institute applies to AICTE for approval, it is considered as a new technical institute and
the application is processed as per relevant provisions of AICTE Approval Process
Handbook.
