Question : KVKs in Telangana

(a) the details of districts that have Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) in Telangana, district-wise;
(b) whether KVKs act as a bridge between agriculture research organizations and concerned departments of States, if so, the details of the capacity development provided by them;
(c) whether there are 35% vacancies in KVKs in Telangana and if so, the details thereof;
(d) the steps taken by the Ministry to fill up the vacancies; and
(e) the details of KVKs which have their their own administrative building and farmers’ hostels?

(a) There are 16 KVKs in Adilabad, Khammam, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Wanaparthy, Nagarkurnool, Mancherial, Sangareddy, Medak, Suryapet, Nalgonda, Nizamabad, Rangareddy, Mehaboobabad and Warangal Urban districts of Telangana.

(b) KVKs act as a bridge between agriculture research organizations and different development departments of States. The experts of KVKs facilitate development departments of the concerned districts in preparation of the action plan and provide technological backstopping to their field programmes in light of new technologies developed by the research organizations. The KVKs also train the extension personnel of development departments and involve them in the demonstration of technologies developed by research organizations for their capacity development.

(c) Out of 256 sectioned posts in 16 KVKs, 211 posts are filled.

(d) The heads of Host Organizations of the respective KVKs, who are the recruiting authorities, are requested periodically to fill up the vacant positions in KVKs on priority basis

(e) All KVKs in the State have administrative building. Except 4 KVKs (Adilabad, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Mancherial and Medak), all KVKs in the State have farmers’ hostel.
