Answer given by the minister

The Minister of State (IC) in the Ministry of CIVIL AVIATION
(Shri Hardeep Singh Puri)

(a) to (d) The service life of the aircraft is defined by the manufacturer of the aircraft in terms of design, economic life, pressurization cycles etc. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation(DGCA), is the safety regulator for civil aviation and does not fix any time limit/service life for Aircraft. The owner/ operator is responsible for the continued airworthiness of an aircraft and has to ensure that no flight takes place without a valid Airworthiness Certificate. DGCA does not allow aircraft to operate beyond their service life and without valid Airworthiness Certificate.;
