THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF POWER ( SHRIMATI JAYAWANTI MEHTA )

(a) to (d) : No hydro-electric project by the name of Bilthra Road Hydel Power Project was ever taken up for construction. However, a proposal for the setting up of Belthara Road Thermal Power Project (3x250 MW) was received from erstwhile Uttar Pradesh State Electricity Board in November 1992 which was returned by the Central Electricity Authority in February 1994 as certain inputs could not be tied up by the project authorities. According to Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd., Government of Uttar Pradesh subsequently appointed consultants which studied the relative need of the project in consultation with the World Bank which recommended taking up the project in the year 2010.
