Question : Construction of New Youth Hostels

(a) the number of Youth Hostels setup/functional in the country, location-wise;

(b) the number of Youth Hostels constructed during each of the last three years and the current year, location-wise;

(c) whether the Government has identified the places to construct/start new Youth Hostels in the country including State of Karnataka;

(d) if so, the criteria for selecting these areas and the areas identified for the same; and

(e) the funds allocated and utilized for this purpose during the last three years and the current year, year- wise?

(a) The number of Youth Hostels set up in the country is 84. The details of their locations are placed as Annexure.

(b) Construction of two Youth Hostels at Thoubal and Churachandpur in Manipur has been completed in the years 2016 and 2017 respectively while construction of one Youth Hostel at Roing in Arunachal Pradesh is likely to be completed in the year 2019.

(c) Further locations to construct/start new Youth Hostels in the country including state of Karnataka have not yet been identified.

(d) & (e) In view of above, question does not arise.
