Question : Rail Projects in Andhra Pradesh

(a) the total number of projects that are yet to be completed in the State of Andhra Pradesh;

(b) the total funds that have been allocated to the State towards completion of newly introduced projects, including new rail lines;

(c) whether the Government has taken cognizance of the increased requirement of new rail lines in the State to be built in and around the new capital city;

(d) if so, the details thereof; and

(e) the steps taken by the Government to increase the funds allocated to the State owning to its increased rail infrastructure requirement?

(a) to (e) There are 31 major ongoing projects viz. 17 new line and 14 doubling falling fully/partly in the State of Andhra Pradesh. Doubling/tripling of following lines/route has been taken up which will cater to increased requirement of traffic in and around the capital city of Andhra Pradesh:

(i) Vijaywada-Narsapur(221 Km.) Doubling.
(ii) Vijaywada -Kazipade (220 Km.) 3rd line.
(iii) Vijaywada Bye pass.
(iv) Vijaywada –Gudur (293 Km.) 3rd line.
(v) Duvvada-Vijyawada (335 Km.) 3rd line.

Budget allocation for the projects falling fully/partly in Andhra Pradesh has been substantially increased and an outlay of ` 2554 crore has been provided in 2015-16, as against an allocation ` 1027 crore in 2014-15.
