STATEMENT
STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (e) OF LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. 370 FOR 29.03.2022 ASKED BY SHRI RAVINDRA KUSHWAHA AND SHRI RAVI KISHAN REGARDING “PROMOTION OF ELECTRIC VEHICLES”.
(a) & (b): Sir, following three schemes have been formulated by the Ministry of Heavy Industries to promote the use of electric vehicles in the country:-
Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles in India (FAME India): The Government notified Phase-II of FAME India Scheme initially for a period of three years commencing from 1st April, 2019 with a total budgetary support of Rs. 10,000 crore. The Scheme was extended for a further period of 2 years up to 31st March 2024. The details of the scheme as notified is at ANNEXURE-I.
Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for Automotive Sector: The Government on 15th Sep., 2021 approved the PLI Scheme for Automotive Sector with a budgetary outlay of Rs. 25,938 crores. The details of the scheme as notified is at ANNEXURE-II.
PLI Scheme for Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC): The Government on 12th May, 2021 approved PLI Scheme for manufacturing of ACC in the country with a budgetary outlay of Rs. 18,100 crore. The scheme envisages to establish a competitive ACC battery manufacturing set up in the country for 50 GWh. Additionally, 5 GWh of niche ACC technologies is also covered under the Scheme. The details of the scheme as notified is at ANNEXURE-III.
(c) to (e): To facilitate the establishment of Charging Infrastructure for Electric Vehicles in the country, following major actions have been taken by the Government of India:
1) Under Phase-II of FAME India Scheme Rs. 1000 Crore is earmarked for installation of Charging Infrastructure.
2) Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has issued amendments in Model Building By-Laws and Urban and Regional Development Plans to establish charging stations in private and commercial buildings.
3) Ministry of Power issued guidelines and standards for charging infrastructure for electric vehicles. The details of the guidelines as revised on 14.01.2022 is at ANNEXURE-IV.
