(a) and (b): The Election Laws (Amendment) Bill, 1999 introduced in the Lok Sabha on 9th December, 1999 is pending for consideration and passing in that House. The Government has given the notice for consideration and passing of the said Bill in the current session. The matter was discussed in the all-party meeting on 13.9.2001 but no consensus could emerge.
