Question : Policy for Treament at Private Hospitals

Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government is planning to propose a health policy at the national level under which all the citizens of the country can be covered and get the treatment in private hospitals as the burden on the Government hospital is very high;
(b) if so, the details thereof; and
(c) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) to (c): At present, there is no such proposal before the Department of Health and Family Welfare. However, Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana (PMJAY), launched in 2018, provides health cover of Rs.5 lakh per family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalisation to over 10.74 crore poor and vulnerable families.
