Answer given by the minister

MINISTER OF THE STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE AND MINISTER OF THE STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF CONSUMER AFFAIRS, FOOD & PUBLIC DISTRIBUTION (PROF. K.V. THOMAS)

(a) and (b): There is a ban on export of wheat and non-basmati rice. The export of basmati rice has been allowed at Minimum Export Price (MEP) of US $ 900 per Tonne. The export of wheat and non-basmati rice on diplomatic basis/bilateral trade agreement is allowed to friendly countries. At present, there is no proposal under consideration of the Government to lift the ban on the export of wheat and non basmati rice.

(c) and (d): In view of the above, the question does not arise.
