Question : Scheme for Town Development

(a) whether the Government has formulated any scheme for town development;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) the number of proposals received from the Government of Madhya Pradesh for town development, district-wise;

(d) whether the civic bodies of Seoni Balaghat district of Balaghat Parliamentary Constituency are covered in the town development schemes and if so, the details thereof;

(e) the proposals wherein civic bodies in Balaghat have been covered and the details of development work likely to be undertaken there?

(a) & (b): Yes, Sir. Realizing the significance of planned development in brownfield and green field area, a sub –scheme was launched by Government of India on Formulation of Local Area Plan (LAP) & Town Planning Scheme (TPS) under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT).
25 cities across various states have been identified for implementation under the sub-scheme. The sub scheme provides financial assistance of ? 2.0 Crore for each city for formulation of Local Area Plan and Town Planning Scheme. The details of 25 cities are given in Annexure.

(c) : Indore is the only city in Madhya Pradesh which has been covered in the sub scheme. State Government of Madhya Pradesh had prepared following 02 Town Development Schemes for Indore city:

(i) Town Development Scheme.

(ii) Local Area Plan (LAP).

(d) & (e) : These civic bodies have not been covered in the said scheme.
