Question : Trafficking in Women and Children

(a) whether it is a fact that the number of cases of trafficking in women and children is increasing every year as per the report of the National Crime Records Bureau;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether it is also a fact that in majority of the cases, the trafficked women and children are untraceable;

(d) if so, the details thereof and the total number of cases of missing girls and children traced during the last five years;

(e) whether the Government has set up rehabilitation centres to help those who are abducted and traced; and

(f) if so, the details thereof, State-wise?

(a) to (d): Number of the cases of human trafficking reported, victims rescued and missing girls and boys traced, as per information published by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), are given in Annexure-I.
(e) to (f): The Ministry of Women and Child Development has launched a comprehensive Scheme namely, ‘Ujjwala’ for prevention of trafficking, rescue, rehabilitation and re-integration of victims of trafficking. The State wise number of Rehabilitation Homes, under ‘Ujjwala’ Scheme, are as follows:

The Ministry of Women and Child Development is managing ‘Child Protection Services’ (CPS) scheme for care, protection, rehabilitation and reintegration of children in difficult circumstances. Under CPS, financial assistance is provided to State Governments/UT Administrations for, inter-alia, setting up and maintenance of Child Care Institutions (CCIs) for providing various rehabilitative services. State/UT-wise details of CCIs are at Annexure-II.
