Answer given by the minister

THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF URBAN DEVELOPMENT(SHRI SAUGATA ROY)

(a)& (b) Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi has informed that under-utilisation of STPs is mainly due to silting of trunk and peripheral sewers, full quantity of sewage not reaching STPs, inadequate water supply in the catchment area/non-commissioning of treatment plant, non-availability of raw water to some of the STPs, etc.

(c) The steps taken to improve the capacity utilization of existing STPs include rehabilitation work of trunk sewers, desilting of sewers, etc. Further, work has been started to enhance sewage treatment capacity from 512.4 MGD to 612.4 MGD by way of construction of STPs at Kondli, Yamuna Vihar and Okhla.
