(a) the steps taken by the Government to compensate for the damage caused to the environment by the construction of highways in Karnataka wherein approximately 7.35 lakh trees being felled; and
(b) whether the Government of Karnataka submitted information of how many trees were felled for which Rs. 50,000 was fixed by the NGT?

(a) : Cost of afforestation as stipulated by State Government of Karnataka funds are released to Department of Forest for planting 10 times the number of trees cut for the construction of NH roads.
(b) : No such information has been furnished by State Government of Karnataka.
