(a) whether the Government proposes to encourage SC/ST entrepreneurs to set up food processing units, cold storages, food parks for their upliftment in the food processing sector;
(b) if so, the details thereof; and
(c) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a)to (c): The Government is implementing various schemes to provide impetus to the development of food processing sector in the country. The schemes of the Ministry are generally industry oriented and all sections including SCs/STs are eligible to avail the benefits. Further, the Ministry had launched a Centrally Sponsored Scheme - National Mission on Food Processing during 12th Plan w.e.f. 01.04.2012, for implementation through State/UT Governments. Under the Mission, inter-alia, the schemes for setting up of food processing units, assisting cold storages and also old food parks are included.
