Question : Optical Fibre Cables

(a) the State and district wise data of the number of Gram Panchayats connected with optical fibre cables, as on date;

(b) the total amount of funds allocated and disbursed under the project, by the State and year-wise details since inception till date;

(c) whether the Government is on track to meet its completion target by 2025, if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor;

(d) whether the Government is facing hurdles in the form of denial of Right of Way from different authorities; and

(e) if so, the details thereof and the initiatives taken to overcome the same?

(a) State and district-wise data of the number of Gram Panchayats connected with Optical fibre cables is enclosed as Annexure-I.

(b) Total amount of funds disbursed upto 31.03.2022 is enclosed as Annexure-II.

(c) Yes Sir. The Government is on track to achieve completion by 2025.

(d) & (e) The tripartite agreement for free Right of Way has been signed between Department of Telecommunications, State Governments and BBNL for providing connectivity to GPs. The Right of Way issues matters are resolved by taking up with the concerned agencies, including by holding meetings at various levels. Further, GatiShakti Sanchar portal has been developed by DoT to facilitate RoW application process through a single interface.
