Question : National Health Insurance Scheme

Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:

(a) whether Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (National Health Insurance Scheme) has been implemented in all the States across the country;

(b) if so, the details thereof along with the funds allocated thereunder during each of the last three years and the current year, State/UT-wise;

(c) the number of families to whom health insurance cards have been issued in rural and urban areas separately under the said scheme so far along with the year set as base year by the Government to issue health insurance cards, State/UT-wise; and

(d) whether the Government proposes to revamp the said scheme in order to ensure effective health care to the poor and migrant workers along with the families living below the poverty line (BPL) who have not been issued health insurance cards, if so, the details thereof indicating the role likely to be played by the State Governments in this regard?

Answer given by the minister

(a): No.
(b): State-wise details of beneficiaries for last three years is at Annexure-I. State wise details of central share of premium released to the states for the last three year is at Annexure-II.
(c): Data is not maintained separately for rural and urban areas. RSBY was launched in 2008; Year wise number of families covered under RSBY is at Annexure –III.
(d): For the time being the scheme would continue to be implemented in the current form.
