Question : Funds for Solar and Wind Energy

(a) the potential and actual installed capacity of solar and wind plants in the country, State/UT-wise;

(b) the funds allocated, released and utilized for promotion of solar and wind energy during the last three years and the current year, State/UT- wise ;
(c) whether any target has been set by Government for promoting wind energy, if so, the details thereof;
(d) whether the Central Government has identified potential areas for production of solar and wind energy, if so, the details thereof, State/UT-wise; and
(e) the details of agencies currently engaged in the field of solar and wind energy in the country, particularly in the Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP) area of Rajasthan ?

(a): The potential and actual installed capacity of solar and wind, state/UT wise is given in Annexure I & II respectively.
(b): The total funds released under Solar and Wind programme, year wise are given below:

State wise funds released in some solar programme is given at Annexure III. In wind programme, funds are not released State –wise.

(c): A target of 60,000 MW has been set by 2022. State wise details are given at Annexure –IV.

(d): Solar potential is available almost entire country in around 300 days in a year. State-wise solar potential is given in Annexure I.

Under Wind resource assessment programme, around 810 sites have been monitored in the country by National Institute of Wind Energy. Around 235 sites have been found to have wind power density of 200 W/m2 or more, which is considered good for wind power project.
