Question : RAIL OVERBRIDGE FOOT OVERBRIDGE



(a) whether the Railways propose to construct rail overbridge at Datiya Dinara Road railway line in Datiya Nagar of Madhya Pradesh, Cuddalore-Chitthur level crossing at 99/100-200 at police yard of illupuram-Katpadi in Trichy Division, at railway crossings in rural and urban areas under Allahabad district Allahabad Parliamentary constituency and a foot overbridge at Namkum and Roy Railway stations in Ranchi district which is under South Eastern Railway Zone;

(b) if so, the details thereof along with the provisions made in the Budget 2014-15 in this regard; and

(c) the time by which these are likely to be completed?

STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (c) OF UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 1956 BY DR. BHAGIRATH PRASAD, SHRI ELUMALAI V., SHRI SHYAMA CHARAN GUPTA AND SHRI RAM TAHAL CHOUDHARY TO BE ANSWERED IN LOK SABHA ON 09.03.2015 REGARDING RAIL OVERBRIDGES/FOOT OVERBRIDGES

(a) to (c):Road Over Bridges (ROBs): Datiya Dinara Road Railway Line: The work of construction of Road Over Bridge (ROB) in lieu of LC 381 at km 1152/32-34 on Jhansi- Gwalior section has been included on cost sharing basis with State Government in Rail Budget 2015-16 at a total cost of ? 28.27 crore.

Cuddalore-Chitthur level crossing: The work of construction of Road Over Bridge (ROB) in lieu of LC 80 at km 99/100-200 on Villupuram-Katapadi section has been included on cost sharing basis with State Government in Rail Budget 2015-16 at a total cost of ? 55.02 crore.

Under Allahabad Parliamentary constituency: 13 ROBs in lieu of LCs have been sanctioned on cost sharing basis in Allahabad Constituency. Out of 13 ROBs, one ROB has already been completed and for others, works have been taken up.

In general, Railway undertakes the construction of Railway Portion of ROB whereas approaches are constructed by the State Government. Due to uncertainty involved in land acquisition by State Government for construction of approaches, time-line for construction of remaining ROBs could not be fixed.

Foot Over Bridges (FOBs) at Namkum & Ray: For enabling the passengers to cross the track, Foot Over Bridges (FOBs) are already existing at Namkum Railway Station and Ray (Khelari) Railway Stations. As regards FOBs across the track for the use of general public at these stations can be considered only on deposit terms wherein State Government agrees to bear the complete cost of construction and maintenance subject to its feasibility. No proposal in this regard has been received from State Government.
