Question : CGHS Beneficiaries

Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government has any statistics regarding number of beneficiaries of Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) in the country, if so, the details thereof, State/UT-wise and year-wise during the last five years;

(b) the number of CGHS approved hospitals and dispensaries functioning in the country, State/UT-wise including Kerala;

(c) whether the Government has received representation to grant more CGHS approved hospitals in Kerala;

(d) if so, the details and the action taken by the Government in this regard;

(e) if not, whether the Government is considering to grant CGHS approved hospitals in Kerala as there is only one CGHS approved hospital in Thiruvananthapuram and if so, the details thereof; and

(f) whether the Government proposes to open new CGHS Dispensaries/Wellness Centres in the districts having more than 1000 CGHS beneficiaries, if so, the details thereof?

(a): State/UT-wise and Year-wise details of CGHS beneficiaries during the last five years is in Annexure-I.
(b): State/ UT-wise details of CGHS empanelled hospitals and CGHS
Dispensaries/ Wellness Centres functioning in the country, including in the State of Kerala, are in Annexure –II.
(c) to (e): There are demands for empanelment of more private hospitals under CGHS covered cities. Government can empanel private hospitals and diagnostic centres only if they are eligible and apply for empanelment on the defined term & conditions. This is a voluntary process on part of the hospitals /diagnostic centres. Government is, however, open to empanel interested eligible hospitals.
(f): No.
