Question : EXPRESSWAY NETWORK IN GUJARAT



(a) whether the Government of Gujarat has submitted a proposal to the Union Government for inclusion of roads under the National Expressway Network;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the follow-up action taken thereon by the Union Government;

(c) whether the Union Government has given approval for only 725 km. of roads under the said Network;

(d) whether approval for the remaining roads is being considered by the Government; and

(e) if so, the time by which a final decision is likely to be taken in this regard?

THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS (SHRI JITIN PRASADA)

(a) Yes, Madam.

(b) & (c) The Government of Gujarat, during the year 2009, had requested for inclusion of about 2871 km length of road stretches in the Master Plan, then under formulation by this Ministry. Based on the recommendations of the Consultant appointed for formulation of Expressway Master Plan and the views of Government of Gujarat, Ministry included the following segments passing through the State of Gujarat as National Expressway Corridors: (i) Ahmedabad-Rajkot (Length : 215 km) (ii) Bamanbore-Kandla (Length : 210 km) (iii) Surat-Nagpur (Length : 750 km) and (iv) Ahmedabad-Ratlam (Length : 350 km).

(d) No additional road is under consideration by the Government, at this stage.

(e) Does not arise.
