(a) whether the NCERT text book on Science and Technology for class VII has a lot of inadequate, sporadic and wrong information on the functioning of insulin, testosterone and estrogen in human body as reported in The Times of India dated November 08, 2005;

(b) if so, the details and facts thereof;

(c) whether the Government proposes to initiate an enquiry against the authors in this regard;

(d) if so, the details thereof;

(e) whether any review is being conducted in this regard; and

(f) if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (f) The book under reference `Science and Technology - Part II` for Class VII was brought out in the year 2003. This textbook is based on the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCFSE) 2000. The following errors relating to information on insulin have been brought to NCERT`s notice, and necessary corrections have been carried out in the reprint versions of the book.
