(a) List of Agricultural Universities including State Agricultural Universities(SAUs), Central Agricultural Universities (CAUs), Deemed-to-be Universities (DUs) and Central Universities with Agricultural faculty in the country, State-wise and number of Constituent Colleges is available at Annexure – I.
(b) Agriculture including agricultural education being a State subject, setting up of State Agricultural Universities/ Agricultural Colleges comes under the purview of the respective State Governments. However, information relating to Central Agricultural Universities is as under:
(I) Four new colleges namely (i) College of agriculture at Saran (ii) College of Agriculture at Aurangabad region (iii) College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry at Madhubani (iv) College of Horticulture & Forestry at Motihari in the Bihar State under the Dr. Rajendra Central Agricultural University (RCAU).
(II) Two colleges in the state of Madhya Pradesh and two colleges in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh under the Rani Lakshmi Bai Central Agricultural University (RLBCAU), Jhansi.
(III) Two colleges of agriculture in the state of Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya; one college of Veterinary Science in Nagaland; Two colleges of Horticulture in Mizoram and Sikkim and one College of Food Technology at Imphal, Manipur have been announced under the Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal.
(c) (i) An allocation of Rs. 295.00 crores was made under 12th Five Year Plan for RCAU including new colleges.
(ii) An allocation of Rs. 467.00 crores was made under 12th Five Year Plan for RLBCAU including new colleges.
(iii) An allocation of Rs. 788.00 crores was made under 12th Five Year Plan for CAU, Imphal including new colleges.
