Question : VIGILANCE AND MONITORING COMMITTEES



(a) whether complaints regarding noncompliance of the rules of the vigilance and monitoring committees on rural development programmes in the districts have been made by certain Members of Parliament (MPs);

(b) if so, the number of such complaints received from MPs during the last three years and the current year;

(c) the action taken by the Government in this regard;

(d) the number of State Government officers found guilty in this regard during the above period; and

(e) the action taken against such officers?

(a) No complaints regarding noncompliance of the rules of the vigilance and monitoring committees on rural development programmes in the districts have been received from Members of Parliament (MPs). However, it has been brought to the notice of this Ministry by some MPs that meeting of District Level Vigilance and Monitoring Committees are not being held regularly. As per the VMC guidelines, the Member Secretaries of the State and District level VMCs have been made personally responsible to ensure holding meetings regularly. The State and District authorities are reminded from time to time in this regard.
