Question : WIDENING OF NH E AND NH D



(a) whether the Government has accorded approval for widening of NH-8E and NH-8D to six lane;

(b) if so, the details and the present status thereof including Bhavnagar- Somnath-Dwarka section of NH along the coast;

(c) the details of funds released/allocated for the purpose; and

(d) the time by which the said works are likely to be started/completed?

(a) &(b) Four –laning of Jetpur-Somnath Section of NH-8D has been approved and awarded by NHAI and Financial Close has been achieved by the Concessionaire. However, the appointed date could not be notified pending public hearing of 14 villages in Junagadh bypass section owing to judgment of Hon’ble High Court of Gujarat. The Feasibility Study for widening and improvement of Bhavnagar-Pipavav-Porbandar -Dwarka section of NH-8E in the state of Gujarat has been carried out by NHAI through Consultant. However, the approval for the project implementation of NH-8E has not been accorded.

(c) These projects are taken up/envisaged under Public-Private Partnership mode.

(d) The fourlaning work on NH-8D shall commence after notification of appointed date. The completion period as per the concession agreement is 30 months.
