(a) whether the Government is aware of issuance of a fresh travel advisory by the United States on overseas travel to
its citizens including India;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether Government has taken up the matter with the United States Government;
(d) if so, the details thereof;
(e) the response of the US Government in this regard; and
(f) the steps taken by the Union Government to get India’s name removed from the fresh travel advisory issued by the US Government?

(a) & (b) The Government is aware of a Worldwide Caution issued by the United States Department of State on 19
July 2012 to update information on the continuing threat of terrorist actions and violence against U.S. citizens and
interests throughout the world. It reminded U.S. citizens to maintain a high level of vigilance and to take appropriate
steps to increase their security awareness.
(c) to (f) The Government of India has raised the issue of travel advisories with the Government of United States,
stressing that there should be no concerns about safety of US citizens in India, and, US travel advisories should
not create undue alarm about security situation in India. The United States officials have stated that they are obliged
under their legal systems to regularly advise their citizens on travel related issues to any foreign country.
