(a) whether it is a fact that huge potential of oil reserves is available in Rajasthan particularly in unexplored areas of Barmer, Jalore and Jaisalmer etc. and if so, the details thereof;
(b) whether the Government proposes to undertake exploration activities in the above said regions; and
(c) if so, the details thereof?

(a) The Hydrocarbon Resource Potential of Rajasthan Sedimentary Basin has been estimated as 380 Million Metric Ton of Oil Equivalent.
(b) & (c) Exploration activities are undertaken by the National Oil Companies (ONGC & Oil India Ltd.) as well as Private/JV companies in the areas/blocks allocated to them. In addition Government of India has taken up a programme for appraisal of unappraised area in the country wherein ONGC is taking up 2D seismic Survey in the unappraised area of Rajasthan.
