Question : ESI Hospitals-Medical Colleges

(a)the number and details of Employees State Insurance (ESI) hospitals/medical colleges in the country at present, State/UT-wise, separately along with the norms for setting up such hospitals/medical colleges;
(b)whether the Government has any proposal to establish new ESI hospitals/medical colleges in various parts of the country including Gujarat, Kerala, Bundelkhand and Amaravati;
(c)if so, the details thereof, State/UT-wise and location-wise including rural/scheduled areas along with the present status of infrastructure development and other amenities provided for each proposed hospital/medical colleges;
(d)the funds allocated/likely to be allocated for the said projects, State/UT- wise and project-wise; and
(e)the steps taken by the Government for the speedy and time bound completion of the work on these hospitals/medical college?

(a): Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has 151 ESI hospitals in the country at present and State/UT-wise list is at Annex-I. Norms for setting up of ESI hospitals are at Annex-II.

The number and details of ESIC medical colleges State/UT-wise, are at Annex-III. The colleges are set up as per norms of Medical Council of India (MCI).
(b): The ESIC has approved setting up of new ESIC Hospitals in various parts of the country. State-wise list of such hospitals is placed at Annexure-IV.
Further, the ESIC has in its 164th meeting held on 07.04.2015 decided not to set-up any other medical college nor any other medical education institution in future.
(c) & (d): Details of ESI hospitals State/UT-wise and location and fund allocated thereof are at Annex-V.
(e): ESIC has constituted a Sub-committee to monitor the projects completion in a time-bound manner.
