Question : Infrastructure Development for AYUSH


(a) the details of fund allocation for infrastructural development under National AYUSH Mission (NAM) in the country, State/UT-wise including Tamil Nadu and Bihar;

(b) whether any special grant or aid has been provided for setting up of educational institutions for AYUSH system of medicine/treatment in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Bihar; and

(c) if so, the details thereof?

STARRED QUESTION NO.286* FOR 17TH DECEMBER, 2021

(a) The Government of India has launched Centrally Sponsored Scheme of National AYUSH Mission (NAM) implementing through States/UTs including Tamil Nadu and Bihar. Under NAM financial assistance has been provided to the State/UT Governments including Tamil Nadu and Bihar for overall development of AYUSH system which also includes infrastructural development. The allocation of funds under NAM is based on the proposals reflected in the State Annual Action Plans (SAAPs) and resource pool communicated to States/UTs as per the NAM guidelines. The details of fund approved for infrastructural development under National AYUSH Mission is at Annexure.
(b) & (c) Public health is a State subject. Setting up of educational institution for AYUSH system of medicine in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Bihar comes under purview of respective State/UT Governments. However, under NAM, there is provision of establishment of new AYUSH Colleges in the States where availability of AYUSH teaching institutions is inadequate in Government Sector. Under NAM, Ministry of Ayush has not received proposal through State Annual Action Plan (SAAP) for establishment of new AYUSH educational institution from State/UT Government of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Bihar.
