Question : Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Vikas Mission

(a) whether the Government has launched the Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Vikas Mission in the country including North Eastern Region and if so, the details thereof and the aims and objective behind the move;
(b) whether the scheme is an amalgamation of a number of existing schemes and if so, the details thereof;
(c) the number of most backward tribal dominated districts that will be targeted under this mission;
(d) the estimated number of tribals in remote areas who will be provided employment opportunities; and
(e) the other steps taken by the Government for the welfare of tribals living in most backward areas?

(a) to (d) Ministry of Tribal Affairs has not so far launched Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Vikas Mission.
(e) The Ministry of Tribal Affairs implements various schemes for the welfare and development of Scheduled Tribes (STs) including education, health & nutrition, livelihood, agriculture, horticulture, skill & entrepreneurship development, drinking water & sanitation, road connectivity etc. and infrastructure incidental thereto. Details of funds provided by the Ministry to the States and other implementing agencies under various schemes for the last three years is at Annexure.
