(a) whether the Union Government has received a proposal from State Government of Uttar Pradesh for providing
land for setting up All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) like institutions in Uttar Pradesh;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether the Planning Commission has approved the proposal of setting up AIIMS like institutions in Uttar
Pradesh under PMSSY;
(d) if so, the details thereof; and
(e) the time by which the said institute is likely to be functional in Uttar Pradesh?

(a) & (b) The Government of India has decided to set up an AIIMS like Institution at Raebareli in Uttar Pradesh under second phase of Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY). The State Government of Uttar Pradesh has been requested for allocation of 150 acres land for the proposed Institute.
(c) & (d) The Planning Commission has accorded in principle approval for setting up the AIIMS like Institution at Raebareli in Uttar Pradesh under second phase of Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) on 26th May 2008.
(e) No time line has been set for functioning of the Institute since the State Government of Uttar Pradesh is yet to allocate the land for setting up the Institute.
