Question : CORRUPTION IN NHAI



(a) whether the Government has received any complaint of corruption in National Highways Authority of India (NHAI);

(b) if so, the details thereof along with action taken by the Government against guilty officials; and

(c) the steps taken/being taken by the Government to prevent such type of corruption in future?

(a) & (b) Yes, Madam. Whenever any complaint alleging corruption in NHAI is received and the allegations of corruption are prima-facie established, investigation is carried out by NHAI and action is taken by Disciplinary Authority in accordance with Central Vigilance Commission guidelines.

(c) In order to prevent corruption, preventive vigilance, e-procurement, toll free number for filing of complaint, reward scheme for informants of corruption, bill/application tracking system etc. have been introduced. This is expected to increase the transparency in the functioning of NHAI.
