Question : Restoration of Monument in Hampi

(a) whether the Government is aware that the UNESCO World heritage sites in Hampi in Bellary district in Karnataka are developing cracks, as reported in the media;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Government has any plans to restore the monuments; and

(d) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) & (b) The World Cultural Heritage sites in Hampi are protected monuments of ASI for which essential conservation, repair and maintenance work is attended regularly within the archaeological norms & principles and conservation policy of the ASI. There are no such cracks.


(c) & (d) The conservation work of protected monuments is a continuous process. The essential conservation and maintenance work at protected monuments of Hampi is attended regularly depending upon the need of repairs at different sites and availability of resources and they in a good state of preservation.
