MINISTER OF HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT (SMT. SMRITI ZUBIN IRANI)

(a): Yes, Madam. The Letters of Rejection have been issued to 588 Institutions by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) during the Academic Year 2015-16. However, the Institutes have been provided an opportunity to appeal before a duly constituted Standing Appellate Committee.

(b): The state-wise number of such colleges/institutes is given at Annexure.

(c) & (d): These 588 Institutions do not fulfil the norms and standards laid down in the Approval Process Handbook as reported by the Scrutiny Committee, Re-scrutiny Committee, Expert Visit Committee and Regional Committee, therefore, Letters of Rejection have been issued to them. No students are affected as the proposals pertain to establishment of new technical Institutions, closure of existing Institutions, change of site of existing Institutions etc.
