(a) whether the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) is facing problem due to
vacancies in the Board of Directors;
(b) if so, the total number of Directors on the Board of Power Grid Corporation as on
date and the number out of them remained vacant with dates of vacancy; and
(c) the steps taken by the Government to fill up these vacancies at the earliest?

(a) & (b) : There are four full time functional Directors, one Chairman and Managing Director
(CMD), two part time non-official Government Directors and seven part-time non-official Directors
on the Board of the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL). Two posts of full time
functional Directors are vacant since 25.01.2007 and 1.02.2007 respectively. The existing
functional Directors and the CMD are looking after the work of the vacant posts. The posts of
three part time Directors are also vacant since 12.07.2006 (two posts) and 5.10.2007 (one post).
(c) : Government is taking steps to fill these vacancies according to the prescribed
procedure.
