Question : CYBER SECURITY PANEL



(a) whether the Government propose to set up a high level Cyber Security Panel on the lines of the US National Infrastructure Protection Centre;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) the steps taken by the Government to set up a crucial mechanism for the security of vital installation and utilities?

(a) and (b): The Government is considering to set up a high level security panel to ensure protection of information infrastructure in the critical sectors in the country on the lines of National Infrastructure Protection Centre set up in USA. However, no firm proposal in this regard has yet been drawn up.

(c): Generally institutions having large computer installations and computer networks in the country take adequate security measures and install appropriate security products to protect their information systems and utilities. The physical security of the vital information system installations and utilities in the country are looked after by the concerned agencies/institutions and the Administrative Ministry concerned. The physical security is also provided by Ministry of Home Affairs on the request of the concerned agency.
