(a) As per Unified District Information System for Education (UDISE) 2017-18 (Provisional), the Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) of Girls at primary level for the year 2017-18 is 95.39%.
As per UDISE 2017-18 (Provisional), between 2016-17 and 2017-18, the GER at primary level has increased in the following States/ UTs: Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Rajasthan and West Bengal.
(b) to (d) As per Unified District Information System for Education (UDISE) 2017-18 (Provisional), the Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) of Girls at secondary level at all-India level has improved over the years. It has gone up from 80.10% in 2015-16 to 80.62% in the year 2017-18. As per UDISE 2017-18 (Provisional), the GER of Girls at secondary level for all the States and Union Territories is placed at Annexure -1.
As per UDISE 2017-18 (Provisional), the State/UT-wise Dropout Rate among girls and boys at secondary level is placed at Annexure -2.
As per UDISE 2017-18 (Provisional), the total number of girls enrolled in schools was 12,06,16,270.
(e) In order to ensure greater participation of girls in education, under Samagra Shiksha various interventions have been targeted for girls which are as under:
• Opening of schools in the neighbourhood as defined by the State;
• Provision of free text-books to girls up to Class VIII;
• Uniforms to all girls up to class VIII;
• Provision of gender segregated toilets in all schools;
• Teachers’ sensitization programmes to promote girls’ participation;
• Provision for Self-Defence training for the girls from classes VI to XII;
• Stipend to CWSN girls from class I to Class XII;
• Construction of residential quarters for teachers in remote/hilly areas/in areas with difficult terrain.
