Question : AYUSH Hospitals

Will the Minister of AYURVEDA, YOGA AND NATUROPATHY, UNANI, SIDDHA AND HOMOEOPATHY (AYUSH) be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government has received a number of proposals from various States for upgradation/setting up of new AYUSH institutions, hospitals and dispensaries for Ayurveda, Yoga, and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy treatment in the country, if
so, the details and present status thereof State/UT-wise;

(b) whether the Government proposes to upgrade and establish new AYUSH hospitals and dispensaries for treatment of various diseases like cancer, cardiac arrests, diabetes and other fatal diseases at affordable cost; if so, the details thereof along with funds sanctioned for the purpose, State/UT-wise including Madhya Pradesh and Delhi, stream-wise and location-wise;

(c) the time by which the said upgradation/establishment is likely to be completed;

(d) whether the Government is planning to open an All India Institute of Medical Sciences like hospital exclusively offering treatment through AYUSH system of medicines in various parts of the country, if so, the details thereof; and

(e) the details of location identified and funds earmarked for the purpose, State/ UT-wise?

(a) Yes. The number of proposals received by the Government under Centrally Sponsored Scheme of National AYUSH Mission from various States for upgradation/setting up of new AYUSH institutions, hospitals and dispensaries for Ayurveda, Yoga, and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy treatment in the country along with present status, State/UT-wise during current year is furnished at Annexure-I.
(b) & (c) Health is a State subject. However, under Centrally Sponsored Scheme of National AYUSH Mission (NAM), there is a provision of setting up of 50 bedded integrated AYUSH Hospital where patients suffering from various ailments are benefitted and free distribution of essential AYUSH medicines to the public is also envisaged. During the current year, Government of India has provided financial assistance to 14 States/UTs as per the detail furnished at Annexure-II.
State Government of Madhya Pradesh has submitted proposal for setting up of 50 bedded integrated AYUSH Hospital through supplementary State Annual Action Plan (SAAP) which was not as per the scheme guidelines and accordingly State has been communicated for furnishing clarification. National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi has not submitted their SAAP for the current year yet. The approved projects under NAM are implemented by the concerned State Governments.
(d) and (e) Yes, an apex institute of Ayurveda, namely All India Institute of Ayurveda, New Delhi with 200 bedded referral hospital and to impart education in the field of Ayurveda at M.D. and Ph.D level has been set up. OPD facility in 9 Ayurveda specialties as well as IPD facility has also been started.

During the current year, funds amounting to Rs. 40.00 crore have been earmarked in the Budget Estimate under Plan for the institute.
