THE MINISTER OF CIVIL AVIATION (SHRI SHARAD YADAV)
(a) No specific aircraft as such are dedicated to operate
in the North Eastern Sector. The average age of aircraft
deployed by the the domestic airlines is annexed.
(b) All the aircraft operated by the airlines are capable of
withstanding turbulence.
(c) Replacement of old aircraft by the Airlines in their
fleet is a continuous process. Indian Airlines has already
initiated a techno-economic study, for replacement of its
Boeing 737 and Airbus 300 aircraft. The Technical and
Financial offers have been invited from the aircraft
manufacturers by 21st August, 2000. After evaluation of the
offers, a proposal will be put up to the Board of Directors
of Indian Airlines for its consideration.
