Question : MICRO HYDRO POWER GENERATION

(a) whether the Government have conducted any survey for Micro Hydro Power Generation ;

(b) if so, the details thereof, State-wise ;

(c) whether there is any Plan for the exploitation of the existing potential ; and

(d) if so, the details thereof ?

(a) & (b): 3349 sites aggregating to a potential of about 2852 MW have been identified for the development of micro/ mini/ small hydro projects up to 3 MW station capacity. State wise details are given in Table I.

(c) & (d): Yes, Sir. A target of 140 MW from small hydro power projects has been fixed for the 9th Plan period. Against this target, projects aggregating to 72.61 MW have already been installed in the first three years of the 9th Plan.
