Question : FUNDS FOR PROMOTION OF SPORTS

(a) the details of the funds allocated/expenditure incurred for promoting sports in the country during the XIth and XIIth Five Year Plan, State-wise and sports discipline-wise;

(b) whether the Government has received any complaint regarding misappropriation of the allocated funds;

(c) if so, the details thereof during the last three years and the current year, State-wise;

(d) whether the Government has taken any action on such complaints; and

(e) if so, the details thereof, sports discipline-wise?

(a) Details of funds allocated for promotion of sports and the actual expenditure incurred during 11th Plan and 12th Plan year-wise are given in the Table below :-

Only two schemes of the Ministry pertaining to promotion of sports viz. Panchayat Yuva Krida aur Khel Abhiyan (PYKKA) and Urban Sports Infrastructure Scheme (USIS) are State specific. Details of funds sanctioned State-wise under the scheme of PYKKA for development of playfields and conduct of sports competitions are given in Annexure-I and Annexure-II respectively. Details of funds sanctioned State-wise under the scheme of USIS are given in Annexure-III.

Sports discipline specific scheme is Scheme of Assistance to National Sports Federations (NSFs). Details of funds released to NSFs during the last five years and current year are given in Annexure-IV.
