(a) the major oil seeds producing States;
(b) the performance of those States in oil seeds production during the last three years; and
(c) the assistance extended by the Union Government under various schemes to increase oil
seeds production in these State?

(a): The major oilseeds producing States are Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Andhra
Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Orissa, West
Bengal, Bihar and Chhattisgarh.
(b): State-wise production of oilseeds during the period 2001-02, 2002-03 and 2003-04 is at
Annexure I.
(c): The financial assistance provided to the States under the Centrally Sponsored Oilseeds
Production Programme(OPP) for various components like production and distribution of seeds,
distribution of seed minikits, distribution of plant protection chemicals, plant protection
equipments, weedicides, control of root grub, seed treatment, supply of improved farm
implements, micro nutrients, demonstrations, supply of rhizobium culture, distribution of
sprinkler sets, gypsum/pyrite/liming/dolomite and farmers training during the period 2001-02 to
2003-04 is at Annexure II.
