Question : Hospitals for Treatment of Physically Challenged

Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government is contemplating to establish hospitals in the country for the treatment of the physically challenged, deaf and dumb persons;

(b) if so, State/UT-wise details thereof;

(c) the State/UT-wise amount sanctioned, released and utilised to establish these hospitals; and

(d) the time by which the said hospitals are likely to be established along with the details thereof?

ANSWER
THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH AND
FAMILY WELFARE

(a) to (d): Health being a State subject, it is the responsibility of the State Government to provide adequate healthcare facilities to all the people of the State including physically challenged, deaf and dumb persons. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has not contemplated to establish such hospitals. As far as three Central Government Hospitals in Delhi viz. Safdarjung Hospital, Dr. RML Hospital and Lady Hardinge Medical College & Associated Hospitals are concerned, treatment is provided to all patients including physically challenged, deaf and dumb persons as per the available infrastructure.
