Question : DEVELOPMENT OF YOUTH AFFAIRS AND SPORTS



(a) the targets fixed and the provision made by the Government in regard to the Youth Affairs and Sports during the Ninth Five Year Plan;

(b) whether the Government contemplate to strengthen the Nehru Yuva Kendras in the country and Rajasthan in particular;

(c) if so, the details thereof and

(d) the present position of Youth Affairs and Sports activities in Rajasthan?

(a) The Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports implements a number of Schemes for promotion and development of Youth Affairs and Sports. However, all the Schemes do not have physical targets. The details of some of the Schemes where physical targets have been fixed for the Ninth Five Year Plan are given in the Annexure. The total financial allocation in regard to Youth Affairs and Sports during the Ninth Five Year Plan is Rs.826.09 Crores, as approved by the Planning Commission.

(b) & (c) : There is no proposal under consideration of the Government to strengthen the Nehru Yuva Kendras in the country in general and Rajasthan in particular except that efforts are being made to enhance the programme funds for these Kendras.

(d) : The activities in the field of Youth Affairs and Sports are being undertaken in Rajasthan as in the rest of the country under all Schemes circulated by this Ministry to the various State Governments.
