Question : MARKET SURVEILLANCE PROGRAMME



(a) whether the Government proposes to launch a market surveillance programme in big cities by deploying engineering college students to prevent use of fake ISI marks for those products which do not comply with safety standards;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the time by which it is likely to be launched;

(c) whether the Government proposes to pass the new consumer law and the Bureau of Indian Standards Act which envisages stricter penalty for the violators including class suit; and

(d) if so, the time by which it is likely to be implemented?
